Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress party, questioning why it did not support Droupadi Murmu during the presidential elections, especially given their concern for tribal issues.
During his speech in Dahod, he said, “I want to ask these people who are fighting for power what the issue was that they didn’t declare support to her when BJP fielded a tribal daughter for the post of President! They ran a candidate against a tribal sister and made every effort to win.
He continued, “Powerful engines, including those for export, are to be manufactured here. To the area’s benefit, Rs 20k crore will be invested here. He added that he laid the cornerstone for a 9k HP electric locomotive plant in April of this year.
“Someone is leading a foot march to reclaim power. In his speech, he talks about tribals. I want to ask him, “Why did Congress not support the BJP’s woman tribal candidate in the presidential election? “Instead, they fielded their own candidate to defeat her,” the prime minister said.
Dahod district received a host of facilities and benefits under the BJP government, including engineering and nursing colleges, a medical college, tap water connections and the development of amenities under the Smart City Project, Modi said.
