The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) today unanimously elected Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani to the position of president.
Nathwani, who previously held the position of Vice President, will fill the vacancy left by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who took over the reins as GCA President from the previous Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Additionally, the GCA announced that Hemantbhai Contractor would take over as vice president, Anilbhai Patel would take over as secretary, Mayurbhai Patel would take over as joint secretary, and Bharat Zaveri would take over as treasurer, effective immediately.
In response to his appointment, Nathwani stated, “I consider it a great honor to be appointed as President of GCA.” I am grateful to our former Presidents, Amit Shah and Jay Shah, as well as the members of the Association, for allowing me to serve the noble game of cricket in Gujarat. I am determined to accelerate their vision, as well as the vision of our former President and Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, of spreading the sport to remote areas of Gujarat and working to develop infrastructure and opportunities for talented boys and girls at the grassroots level.”
Nathwani, an avid cricket and sports fan, was instrumental in the development of the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world’s largest of its kind, spanning 63 acres and seating over 1.3 lakh fans. Nathwani is an MBA with a specialisation in Corporate Law and Public Relations Management from the National Institute of Management and an alumnus of the Regent’s Business School in London, where he studied International Business.
Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is the governing body for the development and organization of cricket in the state of Gujarat, with 10 districts and a union territory under its wing, including Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad (Bulsar), Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Panchmahals, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli. GCA is a long-standing member of the BCCI.
