Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar was in Ahmedabad today to campaign for the party before the Gujarat elections. He said that Gujarat is the place where revolutions begin, and the State’s history can vouch for it. This time again, Gujarat should vote for parivartan, a revolution. The problem can be solved from the place where it originated.
The firebrand leader said, “Gujarat is the place from where protests against Congress began. Gujarat turned a common man into the State’s chief minister and then a prime minister. Gujarat’s decision impacts the nation and this time again, the State will make a decision and bring a difference.” Kanhaiya Kumar, the fiery former Jawaharlal Nehru University student leader, joined the party last year.
Kumar questioned the change of chief ministers in Gujarat. He said, “If Anandiben Patel was so efficient, why was she replaced? Why did they choose Vijay Rupani? Bhupendra Patel was not even aware that he will be made the next chief minister. What is the guarantee that Jay Shah will not be the next chief minister of Gujarat? If Congress nominates a chief ministerial face then he will be the choice of the people, not of a high command.” He also attacked the parivar-vaad of BJP–how Home Minister Amit Shah’s son became the chairperson of BCCI.
Many Congress leaders have switched parties before elections, on this Kumar said, “BJP has a washing machine. All the Congress leaders are accused and blamed as long as they are in Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, once they switch to BJP–saab paap dhul jate hain. BJP whitewashes everything.”
“Morbi bridge tragedy, RTI activists getting murdered, unemployment and several other issues need to be addressed. The problem with this government is–you can’t ask them questions. This time the election in Gujarat should not be on the basis of caste, food choices, or religion–but on merit. This is the land of Gandhi and we should fight for justice. Even Lord Ram’s van-vaas ended after 14 years, it’s been 27 of BJP in Gujarat and its high time Gujarat brings a change.” adds Kumar.
Congress party members Mallikarjun Kharge, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, CM Ashok Gehlot, CM Bhupesh Baghel, Sachin Pilot, Jignesh Mevani, Kanhaiya Kumar are among the star campaigners of the party. They will be campaigning for the Gujarat elections.
