In a startling allegation, a Delhi-based Gujarati woman has accused an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator, Mukesh Ahlawat, and his bodyguard of repeatedly raping her.
After the police allegedly refused to take her complaint about this, the woman told mediapersons on Wednesday that the AAP MLA from Sultanpuri, whom she knows for 10 years, and his bodyguard had repeatedly raped her.
She alleged that one Irfan, who was her neighbour and used to visit her home often, had first raped her. Later, he took her to Ahlawat who thrashed her and also raped her. They had also threatened to kill her brother, the woman claimed.
Many people, who gathered outside the police station to express solidarity with the woman, claimed that since the woman was not literate the police were trying to force her into giving misleading complaints. A woman in the crowd said the victim was making a direct allegation of rape against the MLA but the police were not taking her FIR and trying to protect Ahlawat.
