The Adani Group-managed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport Ahmedabad (SVPIA) witnessed an all-time high passenger footfall and cargo movement this festive season. More than two lakh passengers travelled from the SVPIA last week, and the cargo movement crossed 200 tonnes in a single day, which is an all-time high.
The airport ensured a seamless passenger experience during the peak hours and included live music performances and a unique Diwali décor to keep passengers engaged. The music was specially composed by therapists to calm passengers’ mood and improve travel experience, the airport release said.
The airport’s recent upgrade helped officials handle more than 32,000 passengers daily throughout the festive week. All airline staff were trained to handle the new system and proper SOPs were put in place for smooth operations. The upgrade in the baggage handling system improved the capacity by 100%, the airport said. The SVPIA also added six new check-in counters to ensure faster check-ins.
