The Search cum Selection Committee appointed by the Governing Council (GC) of MICA recommended unanimously Dr. Githa Heggde as the next Dean of MICA. The board has accepted the decision of the committee comprising Prof. Anantha Babbili, Ms. Aparna Mahesh and Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta. MICA, Ahmedabad is India’s premier institute of Strategic Marketing and Communication.
Dr. Githa Heggde, the new Dean brings with her more than 30 years of academic, consulting and industry experience. She has strong administrative and academic background and stellar experience working with regulators globally.
Dr Heggde’s last assignment was as Dean, School of Business at UPES. She also held additional interim charges as Dean, School of Modern Media and School of Law, Head of the Innovation Centre and its MDP initiatives. She was also part of the task force of start-up initiatives of the Government of Uttarakhand.
She has held held leadership positions in various leading business schools, steering them to accreditations and rankings such as AACSB, NBA, NAAC, NIRF and others. She is a corporate consultant on Marketing. She has also engaged in consultancy and research with companies such as Logitech, USA, iWatt, USA, and Reliance. She conducted consultancy and training programs for senior executives of ITC, Infosys, Murugappa group, Pricol, HDFC, EY, Biocon and other multinational companies. She has also engaged in consultancy and research with companies such as Logitech, USA, iWatt, USA, and Reliance, to name a few.
The former Chairperson of the Confederation of Indian Industries – Indian Women Network (CII-IWN), Karnataka, and the Southern chapter FICCI ladies organization, Dr. Githa Heggde on her part said, “I am very excited to be joining the MICA team. I am honored to be appointed as Dean of a prestigious and premier business school that develops empathetic leaders in a digitally enabled world.”
She has been a Member of the European Marketing and Management Association, Member of the editorial board of Journal on Emerging markets, Country Director (India) EuroMed Business Research Institute, and Core member at the Centre for Emerging Markets, IIM, Lucknow.
Dr Heggde will assume her position as the Dean on October 17, 2022. Her predecessor Dr. Preeti Shroff though resigned from the Deans post, will continue to serve MICA as the Senior Advisor to the President and the Director of MICA.
