Protest Held By Silver Oak Students
In January 2022, students of Silver Oak University (SOU) protested the management had fleeced over Rs 2.10 crore from them in the name of unlisted fee. Students had alleged that the authorities began charging enrolment fees two months after the college began. These enrolment charges were not listed in the formal fee papers provided to them.
Pan-India Income Tax Raids
Meanwhile, the Income Tax department today also launched raids in multiple states as part of a tax evasion probe against registered unrecognised political parties (RUPP) and their alleged dubious funding, official sources said. The searches are being conducted in Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and some other states.
A coordinated action has been launched by the tax department against the registered unrecognised political parties, their linked entities, operators and others. The action is taken by the department on the recommendation of the Election Commission (EC) which recently struck off 87 entities from its list of registered unrecognised political parties after they were found non-existent during physical verification.
