Here’s how “3 Wins” works:
First, you start by sharing two recent wins:
1. A win from the past 24 hours.
2. A win from the last 90 days.
3. (Read further)
Why is this a big deal? Because if you’re like most of us, I bet you spend too much time focusing on what’s wrong or what you screwed up on.
Then you ruminate, washing the same negative thoughts over and over in your mind like a broken washing machine.
Research finds that one of the biggest predictors of depression is negative rumination, a.k.a. torturing yourself with the same negative thoughts over and over.
It’s time to stop that and start celebrating your wins.
And then, take it a layer deeper with Win #3. Here’s how:
Ready for this?
Say, out loud, a win you will have in the next 90 days.
That’s right.
Win #3 hasn’t happened yet, but you’re claiming that it will.
Why should you do this?
Because it directs your attention and your attitude toward something you want.
When you claim it, you’re owning the things you want in the future.
Your confidence builds and you bolster your ability to dream.
And when you dare to dream with confidence, you are more likely to take the action steps to make that dream a reality.
What if you can’t think of one win, let alone three?
If you can’t think of anything, it’s because you’re not in the habit of celebrating yourself.
And why would you be? Celebrating yourself may be as foreign as eating with your feet.
Yet you have absolutely no problem beating yourself up, right? Somehow that’s not weird.
So starting today, let’s flip that switch. I’m telling you now, self-love is your birthright, and your relationship with yourself is the foundation for everything in your life.
Instead of berating yourself for all the little things you do wrong, look for the little things you’re doing right.
Did you get out of bed today? Win.
Brush your teeth? Win.
Put take a bath? Big Win.
When you replace the self-criticism that drags you down with the self-compassion that lifts you up, you WIN. Because your life will change for the better.
Now, it’s your turn.
Let’s hear your 3 Wins:
1. What’s one win from the last 24 hours?
2. What’s one win from the past 90 days?
3. What are you claiming as a win for the next 90 days?
And if there’s someone in your life who could use a little boost, share this and count that as a win, too.
