In view of decreasing number of COVID-19 cases in Gujarat, the Government of Gujarat had announced the commencement of new academic year of schools from 7the June. Now, the Education Department has announced academic calendar for the present academic year of schools.
The academic calendar mentions that the academic activities shall be carried out for 245 days out of 365 days whereas, 80 days will be holidays. The first semester will consist of 117 days and 128 days for second semester. Considering 80 days holidays on festivals, summer vacation and Diwali vacation, the total academic work will be of 245 days. The 21 days Diwali vacation shall start at the end of first semester, on 30th October and second semester will start from 22nd November.
However, pertaining to the situations of COVID-19 situation in the state, the academic calendar may see changes. Although the present situation of COVID-19 seems to be largely under control, the dates mentioned in the academic calendar are the tentative dates.According to a rule, an academic year shall have 80 holidays and the calendar has been planned in accordance to it. Following the rule, the holidays in this academic year includes Diwali vacation of 21 days, summer vacation of 35 days and 16 days of public holidays apart from local holidays.
