NV Ramana, Chief Justice of India said today that he was “extremely upset” over media reports on recommendations of Supreme Court judges and urged media to be “responsible” on reporting such news before any formal announcements.
Speaking at the farewell of a judge, justice Navin Sinha, the Chief Justice said that Media friends must understand and recognise the sanctity of this process as there have been instances of deserving career progression of bright talents getting marred due to such irresponsible reporting and speculation.

This comes after several media houses reported the news of recommendations of Supreme Court judges earlier on Wednesday without any formal announcements.
As per the reports, nine names are in the prospect of becoming Supreme Court judges, three amongst them are women.
The names included Justices Abhay Shreeniwas Oka (Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court), Vikram Nath (Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court), Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari (Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court), C T Ravi Kumar (a judge in Kerala High Court) and M M Sundersh (also a judge in Kerala High Court).
As per the people familiar with the development besides Justice Nagarathna, two other women judges picked for the appointment are Justice Hima Kohli, the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, and Justice Bela Trivedi, a Gujarat High Court judge.
The Chief Justice (CJI) has pointed out that the process of appointing judges is still ongoing and meetings are yet to be held.
