Gold, Taaza, and Shakti milk pouches of Amul will now cost two rupees more per litre, according to price increases made by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation. GCMMF sells its dairy products under the Amul brand.
The GCMMF released a statement announcing that the new prices would start on August 17.
The federation, which has its headquarters in Anand, declared that it had agreed to hike the milk pricing by ₹2 per litre. It will be effective in marketplaces of Ahmedabad and the Saurashtra region in Gujarat, Delhi NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and other markets.
Amul Gold will now cost Rs 31, Amul Taaza Rs 25, and Amul Shakti Rs 28 in the marketplaces of Ahmedabad and Saurashtra, according to a release. According to some experts, Amul raised its prices due to the rise in operational and milk production costs. Moreover, the cost of feeding cattle alone has grown by about 20% from the previous year.
In light of the increase in input costs, Amul stated that “our member unions have likewise increased farmers’ prices in the range of 8-9% over the previous year.”
Amul boosted its rates by ₹2 per litre earlier this year in March to offset the increases in input costs like electricity, packaging, logistics, cattle feeding, etc. These factors further raised the price of milk production. Due to an increase in its purchasing and other input expenses, Mother Dairy has also decided to hike milk pricing by ₹2 per litre in the Delhi-NCR from August 17.
