Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the luxury hotel ITC Narmada on Wednesday afternoon. Located in Vastrapur, this 19-storeyed hotel has 291 rooms and a 70 metre grand structure. The architecture of this hotel is inspired from heritage places of Gujarat such as Adalaj-ni-vav and Sun temple in Modhera.
ITC Narmada is ITC hotel’s 12th property in the state of Gujarat. The event space is spread over 10,820 square feet of collective area. Inspired by the Adalaj ni Vav- is the Adalaj Pavilion, the all-day dining and a la carte restaurant offering a range of Indian and international cuisines. The hotel has over seven restaurants.
Sanjiv Puri, Chairman, ITC Ltd told Vibes of India, “It is the first hotel in the State to receive the LEED Platinum certification for its sustainability and environmental stewardship. Stepping up our investments further, we are now constructing a state-of-the-art packaging unit at Nadiad, which will create significant livelihood opportunities in the State.”
Inspired from Gujarat’s heritage
The façade elements at ITC Narmada are inspired by the classical Gujarat Toran of the Sun Temple at Modhera and the step wells that were once integral to the region. The building façade carries elements of local craft including an interpretation of the famous “Tree of Life” at the Sidi Syed Mosque. The super imposing step wells architecture to latticework and mirrors, silks, brocades, world famous cotton weaves and teakwood of Narmada’s basins.
Nakul Anand, Executive Director, ITC Ltd said, “We are rooted in sustainability. We have taken a series of sustainability initiatives such as rainwater harvesting, recycling water, using construction materials with high recycling content and deploying energy efficient systems for air conditioning, refrigeration and water pumping among other key functions–to maintain sustainable practices at ITC Narmada.”
