India defeated West Indies by 88 runs on Sunday and concluded the five-match T20I series by 4-1 at the Broward Regional Park Stadium in Central Florida.
Coming to bat first after winning the toss, team India marked a 188-runs target on the scoreboard with a loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. India’s openers got off to a good start.
However, Ishan Kishan was sent back cheaply at 11 runs in 13 balls. Shreyas Iyer went on to score a highest of 64 runs off 40 balls for the team, followed by Deepak Hooda, who contributed 38 runs off 25 balls. Sanju Samson did not go particularly well, and was dismissed for 15 runs. Dinesh Karthik was also dismissed for 12 runs. Hardik Pandya scored 28 runs in 16 quick balls but the he was run out. Followed by him, Akshar Patel scored 9 runs and the hosts were given a target of 188.
Odion Smith took the most three wickets from Indies’ bowling department. Apart from him, Jason Holder, Dominic Drakes and Hayden Walsh dismissed one batsman each.
Chasing the 189-run target by India, the West Indian team was bowled out for 100 runs with 26 balls remaining at the end of the match . Ravi Bishnoi took a four wickets haul, highest in Indian bowling department. Also, Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav created a stir by taking three wickets each. Shimron Hetmyer was the highest scorer for West Indies with 56 runs. The rest of the Caribbean players were a flop show during rest of their innings.
Akshar Patel was adjudged player of the match for his brilliant bowling performance (3-1-15-3). The title of player of the series was given to young pacer Arshdeep Singh, who contributed significantly to India’s victory in four matches. He performed brilliantly throughout the series and overall took seven wickets in five matches.
