Post a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat Education Minister and spokesperson for the Gujarat government, Jitu Vaghani, addressed the media. He said the meeting was held to discuss the upcoming 75th Independence Day celebrations and also the Lumpy virus that is affecting cows and has spread to 17 districts of the state, killing over a thousand animals.
Talking about the preparations for the Independence Day celebrations, Vaghani said that from August 8 onwards, a house-to-house ‘Tiranga Yatra’ would be conducted across eight metropolises of the state. People would be encouraged to hoist the Tricolour as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign of the central government.
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav will be held in the ‘Amrit Sarovar’ district—Dhansura in Aravalli—of the state. About 25 lakes have been created in the district alone. This is in keeping with the Prime Minister’s new initiative named Mission Amrit Sarovar which was launched on April 24 this year. The Mission is aimed at developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district of the country as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Vaghani also said that from August 13 to 15, the Amul Dairy poly pack will feature the logo of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Restaurant bills and bus tickets will also sport the logo as part of the celebration.
The Gujarat Education Minister said that on World Adivasi Day, which falls on August 9, celebrations will be held at 26 locations across the state. The CM would visit Dahod to launch a Rs 1,300-crore government scheme, he said, and added that the CM recently visited Kutch regarding the Lumpy virus, and distributed vaccines for the same.
