After West Indies grabbed a nail-biting second T20I match against India, the men in blue returned the favour to the hosts by a 7 wickets win in the third T20I at the Warner Park in Basseterte on Tuesday.
With the help of a brilliant 76-run knock from Surya Kumar Yadav, team India was able to strike down the Indies’ given target of 165. Meanwhile, the Indian skipper had to go back earlier due to back spasm, while on the crease. Rishabh Pant helped the team to chase the target in the end with one over to spare. He scored 33 runs off 26 balls to win the match and take lead in five-match T20I series against West Indies. For Indies, Akeal Hossein, Dominic Drake’s and Jason Holder took one wicket each.
Coming to bat first after losing the toss, West Indies managed to score a total of 164 with the help of 73-run knock by opener Kyle Mayers. He was then dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Mayers’ scoring innings was then carried forward by Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell. Talking about Indian bowling side, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took a highest of two wickets while Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh dismissed one batsman each.
Surya Kumar Yadav was awarded player of the match award. Now, India leads five-match T20I series by 2-1 against West Indies. The next match will be played on Saturday, August 6 at Central Broward Regional Park, which will be a decisive match for both the teams to clinch the series.
