Taking another step towards Self-Reliance, Gujarat announced the “Gujarat Semiconductor Policy” by Bhupendra Patel, in order to attract investment, in the chip manufacturing sector in Gujarat. Gujarat is the first state in India to announce a committed policy to support the semiconductor and display manufacturing sector.
The following initiatives will be undertaken under the policy:
– An additional assistance at the rate of 40 percent of the capital assistance given by the Government of – –India will be provided by the State Government Dholera Semicon CT shall be established at Dholera Special Investment region under this policy .
-A 50% subsidy will be provided on additional land that is needed for other projects approved under ISM -For the first 5 years, clean and good-quality water will be provided to the projects at the rate of Rs 12 per cubic meter.
-A provision of Rs 76,000 is set apart by the Government of India as a part of the announced policy so as to attract investment in the semiconductor manufacturing sector in the country
-An efficient mechanism is to be set up to fasten the approval process under various laws of the State Government.
-Creation of two lakh jobs in the next five years
Gujarat has inched another step closer to the technological revolution with the direction of the Chief Minister of the state, Shri Bhupendra Bhai Patel. The Chief Minister has made an announcement of “Gujarat Semiconductor Policy 2022-2027″ in the presence of Mr Jitubhai Vaghani Minister of Science and Technology Department, Chief Secretary Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Pankaj Joshi, Secretary of Science and Technology Department Mr. Vijay Nehra.
Jitubhai Vaghani, Minister of Science and Technology Department said that it is a matter of pride for Gujarat to be the first state in the country to come up with a unique, committed policy to support the semiconductor and display manufacturing sector. The Gujarat Semiconductor Policy, which is to take place between 2022 to 2027, has been declared with the aim to endorse quick and inclusive growth in the domestic semiconductor chip manufacturing sector in the state. It is expected that about two lakh jobs shall be curated in the next five years through this policy.
