Dindoli police yesterday arrested a young man for trying to kidnap and sexually assault a minor. The arrest came after the father of the girl filed a complaint saying that a young man had captured his daughter from the street near his shop and tried to assault her sexually. He said that his daughter, who is a class-5 student, was coming to his shop when the incident happened.
The father, a native of Bihar, lives in Surat and runs a cutlery shop in the area. He has four daughters and the incident happened with the eldest. He told the police that after returning from school and having lunch, his daughter usually came to the shop to help out. Just like any other day, she was coming to the shop on Tuesday when she was captured by the young man and taken to someone’s home. This is where the man tried to force himself upon her.
Fortunately, his daughter kicked and screamed and managed to escape. The girl came running and crying to the shop and told her father everything. That is when the complaint was filed.
The police have arrested the man in question and are investigating the matter further.
