A heavy rainfall alert has been issued by The Indian Meteorological Department for the next two days, as torrential rain is expected in multiple states across India, such as Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Heavy rain is expected in the coming two days in areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The rain shall cease to flow from the third day. Other than the mentioned states, a surge in rainfall in the northern parts of India is also to be observed in northern parts of India from July 27 onwards.
IMD had said in a press release that rainfall is predicted to flow in northern parts of India majorly because of a northward shift of the monsoon trough.
Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall has been ongoing in Western Madhya Pradesh in the past few days and is expected to continue for the next few days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall was seen in some regions of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, and Himachal Pradesh. Other the above-mentioned places, West Rajasthan, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Sikkim, South Interiors of Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and Punjab also saw torrential rainfall.
The weather forecast by IMD says that triggered by monsoon trough, heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next few days and will slow down after July 27. A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Madhya Pradesh and neighborhoods in the lower and middle tropospheric levels tilting southwards with height.
The monsoon shift is expected to deliver light to moderate rainfall with occurrences of heavy falls, thunderstorms, lightning in places of Gujarat, Rajasthan, and West Madhya Pradesh during 24th- 26th, over north Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana during July 24-25.
