The mysterious murder of the split body pieces puzzle finally comes to an end as Ahmedabad’s city crime branch finally cracks the case. A sexagenarian has been nabbed by the crime branch for assassinating his own drug-addicted son in a spontaneous moment of rage and then disposing off the body in a gruesome manner. The 62-year old was caught on Saturday in Rajasthan’s Gangapur, on a train bound to Gorakhpur in UP. Neelesh Joshi was tortured for years by his son,Swayam, 21.
It was another of those days on July 18, when Swayam reached to attack his father, when Neelam reciprocated by hitting Swayam’s head with a grinding stone. Police say that after the murder, Neelesh ran the body through a grinding machine, and then disposed off the cut off body parts in various parts of the city.
Joshi was caught on Saturday night. He is found to be a resident of Sunita Park Society in the Bhudarpura locality of Ambawadi. His son, Swayam had apparently dropped out of school, after flunking the Class 10 exam. He was unemployed at the time of his death.
On July 18, in the morning, Swayam asked his father for cash for liquor and drugs. When the latter refused to pay, Swayam began beating his father.
The consequences that followed, led to his ultimate death.
After killing his own son, he dismembered his body and hid it, in different parts of Ahmedabad city. He disposed off the body’s torso in Vasna, the legs near Parimal Garden, the head in Gujarat University and the hands in Jivraj Park. Upon primary investigation, the police got to know that Swayam in his last fight, was drunk and under the influence of some drug.He asked for money and started punching and kicking walls and doors. He went ahead to break a glass panel of a cupboard. Swayam discovered a handle of spade through which he tried to kill Joshi.
The father kicked Swayam in return and as he fell on a bed, Josh got hold of a stone grinder from the kitchen with which he beat Swayam’s head several times. Talking to the cops, Joshi revealed that after killing Swayam, he first visited the temple and then to a hardware shop in Kalupur, from where he purchased a grinding machine.
Joshi was identified in the CCTV footage. An elderly man on his scooter with bags was found on the cameras by the police. He was also seen dumping the bags near Doctor House, Parimal Garden.
Joshi had then left for Surat using a free pass which he obtained from GSRTC as a retired employee of the company. Police began looking for footage from bus stops and railway stations of Surat. He was found with the help of technology at Gangapur City Junction, where he was travelling in Avadh Express. The murderer has been charged for murder and has been handed over to Vasna police.
Upon investigation of the murder of the 21 year old, it was found that the victim in fact had often threatened his father by saying he would chop him into pieces. It was such threats that played in Joshi’s head after he killed Swayam.
An officer of the city crime branch revealed that Swayam was an alcoholic and a drug addict for about six years. He had threatened to kill and chop his father several times.
The same happened on the day of the crime. When the father-son duo started fighting, Swayam made the same threat and started beating his father. Joshi could no longer tolerate the harassment and killed his son.
After the homicide, Swayam’s threats of chopping him were haunting him. It was then, that Joshi got the idea to cut the body and dispose it off in different places so as to hide any tracks of him conducting the murder.
