Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bundelkhand Expressway at Kaitheri village in Orai tehsil of Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, on 16 July.
The Prime Minister praised the region’s hard work, cultural richness, and tradition. “The land that produced countless warriors, where the devotion for India flows in the blood.”
The new expressway could come as a way of making a difference, connecting every nook and corner of the state, said the Prime Minister. It will also play a key role in Bundelkhand’s industrial progress. “The distance from Chitrakoot to Delhi has been reduced by 3-4 hours by the Bundelkhand Expressway.”
The PM also remarked on the reach and progress of infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, where several big projects took years to complete in the past. The upcoming new infrastructural advancement is outperforming many states.
The state’s connectivity projects help many ignored areas from history. He said local people would witness multiple opportunities for development, self-employment, and employment in the region because of the expressway.
About the Expressway-
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Bundelkhand Expressway in February 2020.
The project finished in 28 months and cost ₹14,850 crores under Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The 296 km long, four-lane expressway can also be expanded to six lanes in the future. It extends from NH-35 at Gonda village near Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot district to Kudrail village in Etawah district, further merging with the Agra-Lucknow Express Highway.
Bundelkhand expressway passes through seven districts via Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya and Etawah.
The expressway will provide a significant boost to economic development, as well as improve connectivity in the region. It could also create thousands of job opportunities for the local population. Work on the industrial corridor in Banda and Jalaun districts is already in progress, next to the it.
