Ahmedabad, the World Heritage City, has made all Amdavadis proud again by achieving a position in TIME magazine’s “50 extraordinary destinations to explore” list of 2022. From India, Ahmedabad city and Kerala, God’s own country, are the only places that have made it to the list.
TIME magazine mentioned that as persistent as life’s challenges in 2022 are the hope that travel can help understand human connections. It further said that the travellers are hitting the roads and skies again. The hospitality industry reopens as the pandemic has started declining.
India’s first UNESCO world heritage site, Ahmedabad, boasts ancient landmarks and contemporary innovations that make it a mecca for cultural tourism.’
“From the serene Gandhi Ashram that sits on 36 acres on the banks of the Sabarmati River to Navratri, a vibrant nine-day celebration (this year from Sept. 26 to Oct. 5) billed as the longest dance festival in the world.”
The feature added Science City as “a sprawling entertainment centre and theme park” in Ahmedabad. The centre unveiled three main attractions last year, including a 20-acre park to teach the public about the local flora and act as a place to do yoga.
In addition, the place has a new interactive robot gallery celebrating innovation in robotics, featuring a towering replica of a Transformer.
The Science city also features a new aquarium, with species around the globe, and now the largest in India.
According to the article, TIME asked its global network of correspondents and contributors for suggestions of sites to include on this list of the World’s Greatest Places. Naming it amongst the top spots to visit this year “with an eye toward those offering new and interesting experiences.”
Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates; Park City, Utah; Seoul; the Great Barrier Reef, Australia; the Arctic; Valencia, Spain; the Trans Bhutan Trail, Bhutan; the International Space Station; Bogota; the Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia; Istanbul; and Kigali, Rwanda are also on the list.
