The rain flow in the state has led to a spike in water volume in the state`s dams by 1,271 million cubic meters (MCM). It has been noted that 13 dams are already 90% full. Speaking about the Sardar Sarovar dam, it is 45.37% full, with 4,292.39 MCM of water. In total, 207 dams are 40.27% full, according to the State Government on Monday.
Measuring the percentage of the dams filled, the water supply department said in its statement “ Eight dams have reached their entire capacity, that is 100%. Eighteen dams are between 70-100% and twenty five are between 50-70% full. But, 101 dams are still operating on less than 25% of their capacity.“ The government also shared that the water levels of those dams in districts in which heavy rainfall has been forecast, are being monitored minutely.
Kankawati, Jangdia, Mitti, and Beracghia in Abdasa, Gajansar .in Nakhatrana, Kalaghoda in Mundra,Sanandro and Godhatad in Lakhpat, Und-III in Kalavad, Bagad in Mahuva, and Don in Mandvi are some of the dams that are being monitored.
141 dams in Saurashtra have seen an increase of 333.77 MCM. Water in Narmada has reached 115.62 meters of water, when it earlier stood at 114.52 meters.
