Ambaji Shaktipeeth, Gujarat’s one of the most visited pilgrimage sites, has registered a 225% increase in footfalls at Parikrama Path. Caused by the 51 Shaktipeeth Parikrama Mahotsav and the Light and Sound Show in April 2022, inaugurated by the CM of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel.
Considering the average footfalls in March and April 2022, an increase is expected.
Around 3,350 devotees visited the Gabbar temple before Parikrama Mahotsav. And this number increased to 33%, 4,450.
Before the inauguration, 100 devotees performed the Parikrama. Now it has risen to 2,250, a reported 225% growth. Devotee’s visits to Ambaji temple have also increased by 14%.
6,146 sq.m area of the temple complex
The Gujarat government is constantly working on developing significant tourist attractions at Ambaji. Post the inauguration of the Pilgrim Mahotsav, with the beginning of the Light and Sound Show. An area of about 6,146 km is permitted for development, with construction underway. Bimal Patel, a well-known architect, is assigned to design the complex.
In the upcoming budget, the state government plans to keep a provision of ₹62 crores. And the construction of new buildings in the 75-metre area around the temple is in action.
Employment opportunities
As the devotees’ enthusiasm rises, local businesses and employment growth are notable. The temple has visitors of 450 to 500, which is expected to increase to 600- 700 on weekends, according to reports.
