The first meeting of the Apex Committee of the National Industrial Corridor Development Program was held in New Delhi. Among those present were Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Industry and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The Chief Ministers of 6 states, including Gujarat, participated in the discussion by virtually joining the meeting.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attended the meeting via video conference from Gandhinagar. He thanked the Centre for its support for Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). The Gujarat project under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor is the main project of the state government on the concept of Greenfield Industrial Smart City.
Patel said that with the Centre’s support, DSIR has been able to develop modern infrastructure, and the National Highway Authority is constructing an expressway. The Dholera International Airport project has also been approved at the CCEA meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
Regarding railway connectivity for industries to be set up in Dholera, Patel said that the process of land acquisition for the Bhimnath Dholera rail project is in progress. The state government is making efforts to complete the tender process along with land acquisition for this rail project in the next 6 months.
Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Raj Kumar Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary and Hareet Shukla Secretary of Tourism for the state were also present at the meeting.
Besides, Gujarat CM, the meeting was attended by the Chief Ministers of Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Industry Ministers of other states also joined the meeting virtually.
