On Wednesday, Indigo, the country’s largest carrier, and Vistara Aircraft, the joint venture between Tata Sons and – Singapore Airlines, encountered technical malfunctioning incidents.
Vistara aircraft on its way from Bangkok experienced an engine failure after landing, but the passengers and crew deplaned safely.
The officials reported that Indigo’s Raipur-Indore flight cabin crew observed smoke in the aircraft after landing on Tuesday at its destination. The crew and passengers disembarked safely here too.
IDG, an electrical generator providing electricity to an aircraft, developed a minor electrical malfunction in the engine. This failure occurred after the plane landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday, said Vistara.
After clearing the runway, the pilots wanted to do taxiing using single-engine engine 1, and Engine 2 had shut down. Regardless, a tow truck came to take the aircraft to the parking bay, as engine 1 failed at the taxiway.
A Vistara spokesperson said, “After landing in Delhi, while taxiing to the parking bay, IDG on our flight UK122 (BKK-DEL) had a minor electrical malfunction on July 5, 2022. Keeping passenger safety and comfort in mind, the crew elected to tow the aircraft to the bay”.
These incidents came two days after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) gave a show-cause notice to SpiceJet. The airlines reported incidents of technical malfunction in three aircraft, which were two passengers and one freight. In addition, SpiceJet had suffered eight such technical malfunction incidents in the last 18 days. Their issues include inadequate maintenance, payment-related shortage of spares, and flagging safety oversight.
