Barely 48 hours after the new government came to power in Maharashtra, top cop Sanjay Pandey, who retired as Mumbai CP on Thursday, was served an ED notice, Sunday. He has been summoned in connection was a money-laundering case relating to the NSE server breach case. He has to appear before the agency on July 5.
Sanjay Pandey has been in the news ever since he was the unexpected pick of the MVA government for the top job as CP. Significantly, his DG tenure witnessed the Parambir Singh-Anil Deshmukh fiasco. Insiders state that Singh was “influenced” by Pandey to withdraw the case against the tainted minister.
The summon, issued Sunday, relates to the NSE server compromise case and the audit company set up by Pandey in the Ramakrishna case. It may be recalled that earlier this year, NSE’s former managing director and CEO, Chitra Ramakrishna, was arrested for sharing confidential information about NSE with a “yogi who lives in the Himalayas.” Her close associate and former Group Operating Officer, Anand Subramaniam, was earlier arrested by the CBI.
