Tapan Kumar Deka, a senior IPS officer, was named Intelligence Bureau chief on Friday, succeeding Arvind Kumar, whose extended tenure ends on June 30.
According to an official order issued by the Personnel Ministry, Deka, who has been in charge of the IB’s operations wing, will take over as the new chief for two years.
He is a 1988 batch officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre.
Samant Goel’s tenure as head of the Research and Analysis Wing (R & AW) has been extended by one year, the ministry announced in another order.
