In the latest on politics from Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has instructed Shiv Sena members to go to Surat and convince party minister Eknath Shinde and other MLAs to come back to Mumbai. The delegation formed for this mission includes Thackeray’s close confidant, Milind Narvekar and Ravindra Phatak.
Sources said that the party was confident that Shinde was a loyal member of the party and would return soon. They also said that with Shiv Sena leading the coalition, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is set to flourish and no amount of speculation will weaken it.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) triumph in Maharashtra Legislative Council elections and the recent disappearance of Eknath Shinde, a top Shiv Sena politician, along with two-dozen or so other MLAs has raised speculation that the alliance of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was at risk of dissolving. However, Shiv Sena is taking strong steps to negate all these rumour and show a strong front for the (MVA).
Earlier this morning, it was reported that Shinde, along with other MLAs is staying at the Le Meridien Hotel in Surat, Gujarat. Joint Commissioner of Police Sharad Singhal visited the hotel and took care of the necessary arrangements for the leaders. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has said that although Shinde is not in Mumbai, the party has been in touch with him. Furthermore, another Shiv Sena MLA Nitin Deshmukh has been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Surat due to ill health, while his wife has lodged a complaint about his disappearance in Maharashtra.
