PM Modi to Celebrate International Yoga Day at Mysuru Palace in Karnataka

After an interval of 2 years, International Yoga Day which is 21st June will be again celebrated with enthusiasm and joy in the country. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Yoga for Humanity”.Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, shared that PM Modi is set to lead a mass Yoga event at Mysuru Palace in Karnataka which shall be joined by 15,000 zealous participants. Besides these enthusiasts, 25 crore people around the globe, will also join several events all aimed at doing Yoga in unison for better health and wellness.
To formally confirm the grand celebrations of the Yoga day, the Prime Minister had written a letter to all sarpanches or gram pradhans in Hindi on May 6.. Mr Sonowal revealed that the Ayush Secretary has humbly asked all the chief secretaries of the states and UT to wonupon the translation of the PM’s letter into the vernacular languages, and get them delivered to gram pradhans with the help of district collectors. Besides this, a URL of the letter has also been facilitated to the gram pradhans by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
Sonowal also said that a flagship programme in tandem with the Ministry of External Affairs is also being worked upon for a Mass Yoga Protocol over IDY 2022 following the movement of the Sun. The programme is set to begin at 3 AM Indian Standard Time and will continue till 10 PM. It shall commence in Fiji, Brisbane, Australia and New Zealand, and it shall finish in San Francisco, USA and Toronto, Canada,”
A total of 79 countries and UN’s organizations are onboard for program, with complete support from Indian missions abroad. The program will be on live telecast on DD India for 16 different time zones, revealed the Union Minister.
An innovative feature of doing Yoga with PM Modi is also provided in which anyone can virtually do Yoga with the animated videos of the PM, and take selfies with the PM too.
The Ayush ministry has also facilitated digital platforms for this Big Day. Yoga Portal and Namaste app are being used for the registration of participants, and organizations,while YCB, Yoga Certification Board is being used for issue of certification after the completion of trainer course. Another app, called the “Bhuvan app” invented by ISRO, shall be used for reporting of mass participation.
To promote awareness at the grassroot level including remote villages and backward districts, about 1.5 lakh CSCs and 200 community radios are to be made available.
