Gujarat Crosses 1000 Plus Mark In Covid Cases

| Updated: June 17, 2022 16:25

Gujarat has surpassed the thousand-plus mark in its 104-day records with 1,102 active COVID cases On Thursday. However, it is noteworthy that half of the cases are from Ahmedabad. For Ahmedabad city, the 113th daily tally was 113. On the other hand, the 110th day daily tally for the entire Gujarat was 228.

It is too soon to refer to the upsurge in COVID cases as the third wave. But, after two months, the number of COVID patients on the ventilator has increased to three. Physicians report that many patients are experiencing initial symptoms like fatigue, mild fever, and blocked nose due to weather changes.

According to the sources, the doctors have reported maximum COVID cases in the working population. They recommend taking COVID tests to eliminate the chances of infection. But, as per the reports, the symptoms are mild in most cases.

Currently, the number of active cases in Vadodara and Surat is 20 per city. Moreover, there are 12 cases in Rajkot, 7 in Jamnagar, 5 in Navsari, and four in Gandhinagar and Bharuch. Cities with zero active cases have narrowed down to nine.

Dr. Dhiren Mehta, another city-based physician, said that the actual cases could be higher than the numbers displayed. The fear of seven-day isolation and scrutiny by civic authorities has created an avoidance of tests. There isn’t any need to panic as the symptoms are mild, but one must maintain precaution. “Outside travel and increased people movement during the vacation period could be some of the reasons for a higher number of cases,” he said.

Within 24 hours, Gujarat has vaccinated 85,738 individuals, including booster doses, to 42,003 citizens. Second doses to 13,515 within the age group of 12-14 years. In total, the state has administered 11.07 crore doses so far.
