Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the headquarters of the National Space Promotion Authorisation Center (IN-SPACe ) in Ahmedabad on June 10, 2022. Home Minister Amit Shah and NSA Ajit Doval were also present.
IN-SPACe is an independent node agency of the space sector, enabling space activities and the use of space sector facilities by non-governmental private organizations and ensuring more private participation in the sector.
IN-SPACe Composition
*IN-SPACe Chair: The organization is headed by Pawan Goenka.
*Consists of technical, security, academic, and other departments of legal and strategic professionals in space activities.
*Also includes members of the PMO and MEA of the Government of India.
*UGC chairperson Prof M Jagadesh Kumar, Sandhya Sharma IAS, former secretary of earth sciences Shailesh Nayak, and Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG) director Tej Pal Singh are among the 12 board members.
IN-SPACe Purpose
*This organization addresses the needs and requirements of private stakeholders, including educational and research institutes.
*Private companies can now use existing ISRO infrastructure to carry out space-related activities.
* Private Sector will come to IN-SPACe if they need to utilise any ISRO facilities. They will come to IN-SPACe for any technology they require.
