28 year old Justin Bieber has revealed that he is suffering from facial paralysis under diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. Medical experts shared that Ramsay Hunt Syndrome occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near someone’s ear. Justin said that it was the virus that attacked the nerves which caused paralysis.
He posted a video in which his right side of the face was shown to be paralysed- the right eye was not blinking, neither could he smile from that side of the face.
The Mayo Clinic in the US shared that besides the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in affected ear. It further added that for most people the symptoms of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome were temporary first, but could change to permanent later.
The inability for patients to close one eyelid can also lead to eye pain and blurred vision.
He has also canceled / postponed three shows from his World Tour. He asked his fans to be patient as he was going through major stuff and needed time to get back to normal.
He further made a plea to his 240 million fans through the video on Instagram which he said-
“This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn’t the case, but, obviously, my body’s telling me I’ve got to slow down. I hope you guys understand. I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to a hundred percent so that I can do what I was born to do.”
Justin added that he is doing facial exercises to get back to normal, though he does not know how long that could take.
