The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has released the latest details of election funds given to political parties from corporate houses and others by buying election bonds from ADR during 2019-20, in which the BJP received Rs. 44.835 crore and Congress received Rs. 3.398 crore together for a total of Rs 48.23 crore. A donation of Rs 3.5 crore was received. It is being speculated that this amount has been received as a donation in view of the assembly elections in West Bengal.
BJP which received Rs. 44.5 crore election fund, out of which details of Rs 9.75 crore’s donation has been received, including Rs 2 crore each from Cortex International Pvt Ltd and RKS Infrabilt Pvt Ltd, Rs 1 crore each from Jyoti Infratech, Deep Industries, Kunal Structures and Syntax Ltd. 75 lakhs from Nova Textiles. PSP Projects Ltd donated 50 lakhs and the same has been provided by Srinivasa Organization.
The remaining details of donors of Rs 35.09 crore have not been made available. While, all the details of who gave funds to the Congress have been made available, in which Nirma Limited has raised a total of Rs. 2 crores, United Phosphorus Ltd. Rs. 80 lakh, MNS Infratech donated a total of Rs. 40 lakh in two phases and Transpac Silox Company of Vadodara donated Rs. 15 lakh in two phases.
It is to be mentioned here that in the above year, a total of Rs. 1,013,805 crore was donated to national political parties, out of which Rs. 785.77 crore donation to BJP and Rs. 139.016 crore was donated to Congress.
