The Finance Ministry has given the approval to sanction funds for the upcoming sports complex in Naranpura, the project cost of which is estimated around Rs 584 crores. The complex will be developed on a land of 79,500 sqm behind Vardhan Tower in Shastrinagar.
The complex will have an aquatic complex, a community sports centre and space for multiple games, an indoor multi-sports arena, and an outdoor sports arena with multiple courts and huge parking facilities. However, the Finance Ministry has given approval with certain conditions such as the sports complex will be available to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Sports Authority of India free of cost.
Stating other conditions AMC said that the grants-in-aid will be released by the Department of Sports to the state government and the corporation shall receive the same through them.
The expenditure over and above the sanctioned project cost will be borne by AMC and the Gujarat Government.
