Delhi BJP members are unhappy with the party’s decision to suspend spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal. The two have faced doldrums in the BJP for derogatory comments against the Prophet and the Muslim community.
Sharma made arguments during a television debate on the Gyanvapi Masjid controversy. While, the party excluded Jindal, the head of the Delhi media unit, for his tweets.
Senior leaders in the Delhi BJP claim that while most leaders avoid offering support on social media, some have voiced uneasiness in inner WhatsApp groups and private discussions.
However, BJP leader Kapil Mishra articulated his opinion loud and said, ”Theirs is an Islamic nation. If you can talk about Muslims openly, talk about the economic boycott, and removal from jobs in the name of religion.’ Mishra added sarcastically, ‘Hindus are second-class citizens in this world. We do not punish for mocking or abusing us; we rather give rewards.”
Parveen Chaudhary, BJP Chief of Delhi’s Jharosa area, posted on Facebook in Hindi. He stated, ”I respect all religions, but when individuals from another religion speak about our God, we consider that fine. But if we open our mouths, the party punishes us. If you cannot handle your part member, quit employing them too. The party disregarded the belief of crores of party members. If you don’t side Nupur Sharma, the part members shall not fight for you.”
Several party cadres agreed with the post. Many of Chaudhary’s party comrades agreed with it. He told the media, ”A party member has exhibited help to another.”
