Admission Process Opens Up For Engineering Colleges In Gujarat

| Updated: June 2, 2022 14:12

The admission wait is over for class XII students who received their results on May 12. Gujarat engineering courses started offering admissions to aspiring students. The process began on Tuesday and will end on June 30.

Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), the regulatory body for intake procedure, framed new rules for the 2022 admissions. After the online application, the ACPC will announce a tentative merit list based on the Gujarat CET on July 6. Further, the committee will conduct the intake process from July 14 to July 16. Then, they will announce the final allotment on July 25. The academic term for engineering students will start on July 28.

As per the latest rulebook of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Group A, B, and AB students can participate in the admission process. But, the students of Group B can choose from only 19 branches. Later, ACPC will prepare a merit list with 60% weight to Class XII grades and the rest 40% to Gujarat CET score. Based on the list, the body allocates colleges to the students.

Gujarat has 133 engineering colleges with 66,000 seats. However, 36,000 seats remained vacant in 2021. In 202, 26,000 aspirants with Group A as their choice cleared the Class XII exams. According to the reports, two recent engineering colleges shall witness an increase in seats by 600.

Furthermore, students hailing from CBSE backgrounds can also participate in the admission process of engineering colleges. The CBSE exams are ending on June 17. Engineering aspirants, especially from CBSE, will have to upload their hall tickets, bonafide certificate, and Aadhar card.
