PM Modi is known for addressing the public and taking input from them so that they can know the ground reality of anything. This makes him one of the most grounded leaders. Something similar happened today when he visited Dahod along with CM Vijay Rupani to hold a ration distribution program for Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana under which 3.5 crore people would receive free good grains till November. Modi spoke to the beneficiaries of Vadnagar, Dahod, Rajkot Tapi, Gandhinagar. He asked Narasimhabhai of Vadnagar if the people were happy with the news to which Narasimhabhai gladly stated that people are content.
“The scope of the cheap ration scheme has been increasing every year but it has not had the impact it should have,” PM Modi said. He further said that although the distribution of food grains was started long back, the country failed to have an effective delivery system. Hunger and Malnutrition were primary concerns during the Covid crisis; however, the grain could not reach the needy.
From today, the Government is to provide free foodgrains to 3.5 crore clocks from more than 17,000 shops till November 2021. India has been working on this issue since the pandemic and today the Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Food Scheme is being lauded all over the world. India is providing free food to more than 800 million people under the scheme with a budget of over Rs 2 lakh crore.
