Pratik Gandhi, well known for his role in the 1992 film Scam, is currently riding high on the success of Modern Love: Mumbai. The actor recently discussed his job experience in Indian cinema across many businesses. He revealed that while the Gujarati industry praised him, Bollywood filmmakers were hesitant to put him in leading roles.
Pratik Gandhi got his start as an actor in Gujarati theatre. Bey Yaar, his debut Gujarati film, released in 2014.
He is most known for his role as Harshad Mehta in the 2020 web series Scam 1992. He has also acted in Hindi films such as 68 Pages, Mitron, and Love Yatri.
“After doing regional language theatre, He took a plunge into Gujarati movies,” Pratik Gandhi told Bombay Times about his career. My work was well-received there, thanks to God’s mercy. When it comes to acting in Hindi movies, I noticed that directors were afraid to place me in leading roles.
Pratik Gandhi had several supporting roles in Hindi films before landing his first starring role in Bhavai, a year after the success of Scam 1992. “They approached me for supporting characters. According to producers and directors, I was a terrific actor but not a brandable face in Bollywood. As a result, they offered supporting roles, stating, ‘Your character may cushion the main character and draw attention to you as an actor,'” Pratik Gandhi continued.
