A 1983 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer, Amarjeet Sinha has resigned from his post of adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was appointed as the advisor in PMO in February 2020 for two years, after his retirement as the secretary of Rural Development Ministry and was tasked to look after the social sector related subjects. The reason behind his resignation is yet not clear. Sinha is known to have played significant roles in schemes like National Rural Health Mission and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan.
This is third important resignation after 2019 polls from the PMO. Earlier, Nripendra Misra had resigned as the Principal Secretary to PM and PK Sinha had resigned from the post of Principal Adviser to the PM before the completion of their tenure.
