This morning, on the occasion of the World Bee Day, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated an event at Statue of Liberty in
Ekta Nagar of Kevadiya, Narmada District, of Gujarat. The event is organized to promote bee-keeping and honey making industries through out India, by spreading awareness regarding the benefits of honey, especially as mentioned in Ayurveda. The event will also highlight one of the major concerns of the industry and that is the adulteration of pure honey. The event is aimed at small farmers who are looking to expand their bee keeping businesses or for those who want to take up bee keeping to increase income.
As such, under the guidance of the Central government, Tomar will also in a virtual ceremony from Gujarat, open honey testing labs at 7 locations in 5 states on World Bee Day. Honey Testing Lab & Processing Units will be set up in Pulwama, Bandipura and Jammu of Jammu & Kashmir, Tumkur in Karnataka, Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Pune in Maharashtra and in Uttarakhand.
During this celebration, many stalls will be set up by Beekeepers, Processors and different stakeholders of beekeeping sector in the Exhibition to showcase the diverse varieties of honey bee and different products in beekeeping sector. A stall will also be set up by the Indian Bank, the implementing agency for ‘Madhukranti’ Portal for the live Registration of Beekeepers on the Portal during this event.
