When Vini Jaiswal, now 32, left hometown Vadodra in 2010, it was solely to pursue academics. A Masters degree in Information and Technology from University of Texas, Dallas, was the first step towards her desire to study further. Little did she know that 12 years later, she would be featured among the 21 top influencers in the field of Big Data, Data Science and Analytics. She was also included in the “30 Most Inspiring Women In AI” across the globe, in a list put together by Engati, a firm that works in the field of AI.
Her roots go back to Thasra in Kheda district while her family is currently settled in Vadodra. However, as she put it in an earlier interview, “AI was not even heard of when I graduated in 2013. All I was looking forward to was a cushy job in mobile phone and IPad companies as a software engineer. Suddenly, data mining became the big thing and so I jumped into the fray.”
Her career started at a global bank as IT engineer where she was part of a team to develop a machine learning platform. Soon she found herself learning of the infinite possibilities with AI. There was no looking back after that. From job to job, till she gained entry into DataBricks, a start-up based out of San-Francisco.
As a data scientist, her role takes her to companies looking for expertise on software and data management. “And as an AI researcher, the possibilities are limitless,” as she puts it.
