In a very successful operation, the Gujarat Police Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested four of the most-wanted terrorists related to 1993 Mumbai blasts. According to information received, the arrested persons have been identified as Abubakar, Yusuf Bhatkal, Shoaib Baba and Syed Qureshi.
These four are said to be among those who had gathered at Dawood Ibrahim’s White House residence in Dubai to plan a series of bombings on Mumbai in 1993. The terrorists also attended a training camp in Pakistan before carrying out the attack.
The 1993 Mumbai serial blasts killed 257 people and injured more than 1,000. On March 12, 1993, several places in Mumbai, including the Bombay Stock Exchange, Zaveri Bazaar, Katha Bazaar, Plaza Cinema and Fisherman’s Colony, were bombed.
Just a few days back ATS, in a joint operation with Special Operation Group (SOG), also successfully arrested six accused from Odisha for their involvement in multiple serious offences registered in Surat. The accused were on the run for many years. All these six have been booked for different crimes that include supplying of illegal drugs, committing murders and also being involved in money laundering.
