In what comes a welcome move, Ahmedabad might get Gujarat’s tallest building yet, soon. According to sources, the planned commercial building near Iskon Circle on SG Road will boast 41 floors and will be the tallest yet in the state at 145 meters.
This building, to be built on a 7000 square yard plot, is believed to be a joint project between Goyal and HN Safal. The sources said that the two companies will start the project soon and plan to complete it within four years. Ahmedabad and Gujarat as a whole has had many buildings by now that are over 30 storey high, but they are mostly residential projects. This will be 41-storeys commercial building.
S.G. Highway is increasingly being seen as an up-and-coming area for commercial properties and business hub. This development of the area sped up, when the state government introduced special provisions for skyscrapers in major cities including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar and Rajkot.
In the past decade, there has been growing demand for homes and offices in taller buildings. Although this demand had plunged in the years after the devastating earthquake in 2001, now the market is booming. Commercial spaces are also in demand and many businesses are not just catering to the state or the nation, but also have global exposure.
