As April comes to an end, Ahmedabad has been experiencing a scorching climate. It’s been three consecutive days that the city has witnessed more than 44°C. On Saturday, the maximum temperature is expected to waver between 44°C to 45°C.
Ahmedabad was the hottest city in Gujarat on Saturday. There’s no respite ahead, as the Meteorological Department has already issued warnings of heatwaves for Ahmedabad. Due to the harsh and draining weather, Amdavadis have been experiencing trouble passing their days without coolers and air conditioners.
Other cities of Gujarat, like Gandhinagar and Rajkot, have also experienced sizzling heat. However, the heatwave will continue to exist on Saturday. The forecast mentions that the city will continue to have a high temperature for the next three days, followed by a decrease in temperature and relief.
The head of IMD (Indian Meteorological Department), Manorama Mohanty, mentioned the reason behind high temperatures to be the wind directions. She said, “Currently, the wind direction is in the northwest and is bringing heatwaves to the state. It brings moisture and humidity from the Arabian Sea toward Gujarat. Ahmedabad does not have a humid climate yet. The next few days bring heatwaves to different cities of North Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch.”
The presence of dry and hot weather deserted the roads of Ahmedabad. An evident decrease in traffic was noticed on Friday. Doctors advise the people of Ahmedabad as the scorching heat can cause several health issues, including fatigue, body ache, and upset stomachs.
