The Anand District Police, under the Suraksha Setu Scheme, has taken the initiative to help blind women in case of emergency by providing them with helping booklets in braille script.
While talking to an official from the Suraksha Setu Scheme, Team VOI discovered the initiative’s origin. The idea came from the Anand Police Inspector General and other officials. They were concerned about the safety of blind people, especially women. The department was trying to find ways and means to help them become more aware when the officials came up with the plan.
Under the Suraksha Setu Scheme, the Police Department shall provide a booklet to blind women across the city. The publication would be in braille script and would contain emergency numbers that can help the women in case of need. It would also have brief details of related laws and a description of what to do in an emergency.
“The booklet has all the emergency helpline numbers for ladies, the contact details of crucial personalities of the police department, and the Indian Penal Codes made for the protection of women,” the official said. The police department will distribute the booklets in schools for special children and several other institutions.
