Several questions have risen than answers in the brutal murder of Sweety Patel who was in a live-in relationship with Police Inspector Ajay Desai of Vadodara Rural SOG (Special Operation Group). PI Desai and his aide Kiritsinh Jadeja, a Congress officer bearer, have been arrested in the Sweety Patel murder case. But the entire investigation by Vadodara police was carried out at a slow pace, initially. It was after Hardik Pandya, the Indian Cricket team all-rounder from Vadodara, stepped in that pushed the investigations on a fast track. Pandya spoke to MoS (Home) Pradeepsinh Jadeja to step up the pace of the investigation.
If you wondering why Hardik Pandya was interested in speeding up the case then the answer is Pandya is Sweety Patel’s ex-husband Hitesh Pandya’s cousin.
Sources from the Gujarat Police said that Hitesh Pandya currently lives in Australia with his son Rhythm. “Though they had no relations with Sweety Patel, they were quite disturbed by the mysterious disappearance of Sweety. Even Rhythm was trying to find his mom, Sweety Patel, by contacting her friends through various social media platforms,” said a crime branch official.
When after 50 days of Sweety’s disappearance, there were no leads to her whereabouts, Hitesh spoke to his cousin and Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya. “Hardik Pandya directly spoke to MoS (Home) Pradeepsinh Jadeja and asked him to do something about the case and trace Sweety Patel”, added a top police official.
Seven days back, MoS Pradeepsinh Jadeja transferred the investigation to the Ahmedabad Crime branch and asked Gujarat ATS to assist them on the technical aspects of the case. “It was during interrogation that Kiritsinh Jadeja spilt the beans and confessed that it was PI Ajay Desai who told him that he had to dispose of his sister’s dead body who had become pregnant before marriage,” said a police official.
On confrontation, PI Desai broke down and confessed the crime. He said he killed Sweety Patel by strangulating her to death. He then burnt her body at Atila village, Dahej. It was here that the Vadodara police found small pieces of burnt bones.
There is also a buzz in the police department that PI Ajay Desai is related to a senior BJP leader and hence, Vadodara police went slow on the investigation and waited for the forensic reports to arrest Ajay Desai.
