Mary Kom, the world’s No.1 female light-flyweight by the International Boxing Association(AIBA) and Manpreet Singh, captain of India men’s field hockey team, are the flag bearers in the parade and mark India’s entry in Tokyo Olympics 2020. India is the 21st country to join the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony began at 4:30 PM IST. It started with a video clip revisiting 2013 when Tokyo was first awarded the Olympic Games of 2020. The clip followed the eight years journey from the athletes’ perspective, even covering the pandemic.
After a countdown from 20, the pink fireworks burst in the air. It was a beautiful sight.
The Olympic rings entered the stadium accompanied by paper lanterns.
Th parade introduced all the countries including Greece, Japan, Ireland, Argentina along with India. India is the 21st country to join Tokyo Olympics, 2020 with 127 athletes from 18 sports.
World’s No. 1 archer Deepika Kumari opened India’s campaign at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The Indian archer scored 663 points in 72 shots to finish in the 9th position in the Ranking Round.
Pravin Jadhav finishes at 31st position with 656 points. Atanu Das finished at 35th position with 653 points after 72 shots. Tarundeep Rai is in the 37th position with 652 points.
