On Monday, after China Eastern Airlines aircraft crashed with 132 people on board, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has put the Boeing 737 of Indian carriers on enhanced surveillance.
A Boeing 737-800 aircraft of China Eastern Airlines, which was on its way from Kunming to Guangzhou, crashed in Tengxian County in Wuzhou.Three Indian airlines that currently use Boeing 737 aircraft are SpiceJet, Vistara and Air India Express.
China Eastern Airlines, headquartered in Shangai, is a state-owned airline and one of China’s three major air carriers. After the crash, it has grounded all of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Official media reported no foreigners were on board among the 132 people, including 123 passengers and nine crew members on board.
Boeing 737 Max belongs to the 737 series and is an advanced version of the Boeing 737-800. Boeing has not yet commented on the decision of DGCA to put their 737 planes on enhanced surveillance.PM Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed sadness over the plane crash.
US aviation regulator FAA said that it is aware of the crash and is ready to assist in investigation efforts if asked.
