On Tuesday, Congress MLAs of Gujarat alleged that the government hospitals in the state lack vital equipment. As a result, patients have to go to expensive private hospitals for treatment.
The opposition raised questions about the lack of critical equipment like MRI machines and CT scans in government hospitals.
Replying to these allegations, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel informed that 15,953 patients were referred to private hospitals during the last two years.
Almost half of the patients were from Rajkot, which registered 7,504 patients. Tapi recorded 3,131 patients. In Vadodara, the number stood at 850 and 826 for Amreli. At the same time, Kutch recorded 813 persons who were turned back from government hospitals.
