Manish Dave and his restaurant Saathiya turns into a home away from home.
Manish Dave, 52, from Gujarat has won hearts as he opened up the doors of his restaurant to Kyiv residents facing a crisis as Russia ups its offenses against Ukraine. This restaurant Saathiya was previously opened for Indian students studying in Ukraine, and as the war broke out and now it is a safe house for anyone who wants shelter and a hot meal. The owner believes that he would provide with help as long as he can.
Dave has circulated a message on Telegram, spreading the word that his restaurant is in the basement and a safe place to stay in the situation. “Dear friend from India or any national, our restaurant is in the basement and it’s called the safe place to stay in this situation. If you don’t have a proper safe place to stay during this time, please go here, We will try our best to arrange free food and stay according to our capacity. Stand united with Ukraine,” the message read.
Similarly in Poland, Indians arriving after much struggle from war-hit Ukraine breathe a sigh of relief, this young man from Ode village of Anand district is providing stay and food. Gruhang Patel recorded a video message and circulated it on social media with his phone number so that it would help the ones in need.
